Hark, dear friends and kin of the fiery heart! Can you feel the very air thrumming with anticipation? Forsooth! Beltane 2025 is nigh, blossoming on the sweet dates of May the Second, Third, and Fourth! And trust your dragonish senses, for this gathering at Dragon Haven shall be a spectacle even more enchanting than the dewy dawns we’ve shared before!
As the gentle breeze carries whispers of spring, Dragon Haven once more opens its welcoming wings for a weekend frolic celebrating the turning of the Great Wheel. Our hearth is open to all families, a haven of merriment offered freely. Whether you pitch your tents beneath the starry tapestry or simply flutter in for Saturday’s delights, your presence will warm our dragon hearts.
Friday’s First Flutterings: As the sun dips its golden toes, registration will unfurl its banners, inviting you to claim your cozy nest amongst the whispering leaves. As twilight deepens, learn the graceful dance of fire spinning in our safety circle, before the Bardic Fire awakens with tales and tunes. A “Welcome Home, Little Dragons!” meet-and-greet will weave friendships anew, followed by a symphony of drumming, dancing, and the sharing of bardic treasures. Bring your glowing toys, for the Friday night air may shimmer with fiery artistry!
Saturday’s Spells and Merriment:
- A Most Marvelous Morning (10 am): Prepare for a class so wondrous, it will tickle your very scales! Learn All about how the Ancient Egyptians used essential oils for medicinal purposes.
- The Madcap May Games Return! Dust off your silliest socks and prepare for glorious, giggling competition! Cheer on your chosen clan as they vie for the coveted crowns of the May Kings and Queens! Legend speaks of a shimmering trophy this year – a prize worthy of any dragon’s den! The games shall be a delightful medley, ensuring every creature, big or small, nimble or contemplative, finds a way to shine.
- Treasures and Trinkets Abound! On this enchanted Saturday, our haven will also host a delightful array of venders, offering their wondrous wares! From sparkling trinkets to handcrafted treasures, you’re sure to find something to delight your hoard. Bring a few shiny scales to support these talented souls!
- Little Sparks and Budding Wings: After the playful pandemonium, our younglings and teens will gather for enchanting classes and crafty creations. Keep a keen eye on the scroll of schedules (linked at the page’s bottom) for the precise times of these magical moments.
- The Maypole’s Mischievous Dance: Ah, the Maypole! Last year’s tangle of ribbons was… memorable, shall we say? (A hilarious, albeit chaotic, spectacle! Remember: OVER THEN UNDER!!!) This year, bring forth a ribbon of at least 40 feet – feel free to braid shorter lengths together! Upon your silken strand, inscribe your heart’s desires, the dreams you wish to weave into the tapestry of the coming year. Little hatchlings shall need a grown-up guardian to ensure their ribbons dance with grace. This year, the number of twirling dragons around this first pole shall be limited, but fear not! A second, more ancient dance awaits during our ritual. This pole shall hum with the vibrant energies of growth and connection. Dragons of the masculine persuasion, don your finest white; dragonesses, adorn yourselves in radiant red. Bring a 20-foot ribbon in your chosen hue.
The Heart of the Haven: As twilight deepens once more, we shall honor the ancient rites, both in symbol and in spirit. Bring forth your wands, your blades, your cherished tokens, to dip into the blessed cauldron, a sweet gesture of unity. We shall welcome the embodiment of the radiant Goddess and the noble God, veiled in mystery. Once the sacred act is complete, they shall step forth to ignite our bonfire, then slip away to weave their own magic in private. We shall send them off with blessings, a chorus of well wishes for their union and the flourishing of our Dragon Haven family.
A Night of Beats and Bliss: The pulse of the drums will rise, inviting all to join in a joyful dance beneath the moonlit sky. We shall revel until the clock strikes nine, at which time all young dragons under the age of eighteen must return to their nests or the embrace of home. The common areas and sacred circles shall become a haven for those with more seasoned scales. This decree is firm, little ones found where they shouldn’t be after nine will be gently guided to their adult who will (not-so-gently) be asked to depart. As the clock chimes 9:15 pm, the stone circle shall awaken with a more… traditional celebratory energy. Yes, dear friends, let your imaginations take flight! This is, of course, entirely optional. Bring a cozy blanket and your beloved, and remember the ancient wisdom: what happens within the stones, stays within the stones.
For those who prefer a gentler glow, the Bardic Circle’s fire will continue to blaze, a haven of stories and songs for the eighteen-and-over crowd, a space of G-rated enchantment.
Our hearts flutter with joy at the thought of seeing each and every one of you! And remember, dear dragons, when in doubt, always go OVER then UNDER!!!!!
